BERKELEY – A Toms River woman was arrested and issued a DWI following a motor vehicle stop in the area of Mule Road and Davenport Road on Sept. 5, according to police.
Melody F. Demarco, 54, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated by Ptl. Robert Kennedy and Ptl. DJ Williams. Kennedy and Williams responded to the area to check on reports of an erratic driver. While approaching the area, Kennedy and Williams identified a black Honda Civic with front end damage as the erratic driver and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Patrolman Kennedy reported a strong odor of alcohol on Demarco’s breath during the stop. Demarco was arrested following a Standardized Field Sobriety Test.
Demarco refused to submit breath samples while in custody. She has been charged with a DWI arrest, as well as summonses for Reckless Driving and Refusal to Submit to Breath Samples. The vehicle was also impounded as per John’s Law.
