BERKELEY – A fundraiser has been started for the family of a fisherman who was reported lost at sea.

Paul Matos left behind Amy Romano and their daughter, Stella. A friend of Romano’s started this fundraiser to help her out during this trying time: gofundme.com/money-for-stella. Money would go toward his memorial service and to help take care of their child.

Matos was the owner of the Queen Ann’s Revenge, a 46-foot fishing boat docked in Point Pleasant. It is believed that he and a friend hit rough seas in their 60-year-old boat.

The U.S. Coast Guard had received an emergency beacon from the vessel at 1:20 a.m. on Feb. 9, where it was approximately 40 miles off Barnegat. A Coast Guard helicopter and ships were dispatched to the location, and searched the area, but nothing was found.
