SOUTH SEASIDE PARK – A four-year-old who was found submerged in a swimming pool in the South Seaside Park has died, officials said.
The child passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stated.
On August 30 around 3:30 p.m., authorities responded to a South Seaside Park home regarding a four-year-old boy who was removed from a swimming pool and found to be unresponsive. Emergency life-saving techniques were performed on the child, and he was transported to the trauma center.
The incident was described by the prosecutor’s office as accidental.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with this child’s parents, family and friends at this most difficult time,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer stated.
According to Jersey Coast Emergency News, the mother of the child issued the following statement through their Facebook page: “This is the news no one wanted but unfortunately our beautiful baby boy did not survive, but he will go on in our hearts and memories, and we are going to go ahead and donate his organs so he can be a gift to others as he’s been to all of us. I’ll love you forever. I’ll like you for always. As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be”
The page also said his organs will be donated.
