BRICK – A tragic crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist is under investigation.

Police said that their initial investigation shows that a 2000 Harley Davidson Electra Glide was heading north on Brick Boulevard at around 2:30 p.m. on October 23. A 2013 Dodge Ram was ahead of it, stopped in traffic at the Yorktowne Boulevard intersection to let an ambulance pass. The ambulance had its emergency lights and siren on.

It appears that the motorcyclist, Horace Giambona, 64, of Brick attempted to stop and skidded, laying the motorcycle on its side, police said. The forward momentum carried him into the back of the truck. The motorcycle went through the intersection and came to a rest on Brick Boulevard.

Giambona succumbed to his injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Rick Stamm, 56, of Brick, was driving the truck. Police did not report any injuries in the truck.

The Brick Township Police Department’s Patrol Units, and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene. Brick Boulevard northbound was closed down and vehicular traffic was detoured for approximately two hours.

This crash is under investigation by Ptl. David Thergesen #249 from the Brick Township Traffic Safety Unit.  Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to contact him at (732) 451-2037.
