RED BANK – A man was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train while crossing the street Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The man was hit around 2 p.m. at the Bridge Avenue-Monmouth Street crossing, Red Bank Police Captain Michael Frazee said. The North Jersey Coast Line train was scheduled to arrive in Long Branch, NJ Transit spokesman said.
At the time, there were about 25 customers as well as crew on board the train. It was confirmed no other injuries were reported.
Due to the incident, the North Jersey Coast Line rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Red Bank and Long Branch.
NJ Transit police are currently investigating the incident.
