TOMS RIVER – A 20-year-old resident has been arrested and charged for shooting a man in the leg, injuring him, officials said.
Anthony Brown of Toms River was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, all in connection with an incident that occurred on June 12 in Toms River.
Around 11:30 p.m., local police received a report of a 24-year-old gunshot victim, who was shot in the leg at a home on Adams Avenue. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of his injuries, where he was treated and subsequently released.
According to officials, Brown retrieved a handgun from the home and fired two shots at the victim’s car, hitting the victim. Brown then fled the scene.
A short time later, Brown was taken into custody at his home without incident. Brown was brought to the Ocean County Jail where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.

The charges referenced are merely accusations and the public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
