FREEHOLD – A Mercer County high school English teacher has been arrested and charged with having a sexual relationship with a student, officials said.
Jessica Sawicki, 37, of Point Pleasant was charged with five counts of second-degree Sexual Assault and five counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
According to police, Sawicki met with the victim on several occasions at the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Upper Freehold Township and allegedly engaged in sexual acts. This began earlier this year, officials said.
Sawicki was arrested without incident and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where she remains incarcerated pending a first appearance and detention hearing to take place in Monmouth County Superior Court.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
