HOWELL – Authorities are investigating a crash that involved a car hitting a pedestrian, resulting in their death.
The crash occurred around 7:51 p.m. Sunday. According to police, a Honda Civic driven by a Howell resident was traveling south on Route 9 in the area of Strickland Road when they struck a Howell resident who was crossing Route 9 from west to east.
The pedestrian was transported to CentraState Medical Center for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Police said the driver of the Honda Civic was uninjured in the crash but taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation by the Howell Township Police Department, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team.
