STAFFORD – Sounds of shouting and glass breaking brought police to an apartment complex, resulting in the arrest of a resident who was alone in his home.

Police said they were called at around 8 a.m. on August 10 by staff who worked at the Stafford Park Apartments. They reported hearing screaming, glass breaking, and what could have been gunshots.

After arriving on the scene, police learned the sounds were coming from “a 40-year-old emotionally disturbed male resident, who was alone inside of his apartment.”

Officers gained entry to the apartment after almost two hours trying to make contact with the man. He was then taken into custody without incident and brought to Southern Ocean Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been made at this time.

Stafford and Barnegat Police, along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and Stafford Township Emergency Medical Services responded.
