BRICK – Detectives in the Brick Township Street Crimes Unit (SCU) have made several drug arrests over the last month.
On January 13, detectives observed a suspicious car in the Quick Check parking lot. The car was later searched and inside were items including handcuffs, a police baton and brass knuckles.
As a result, David Edgar, 38, from Brick, was charged with possession of prohibited weapons. He was processed and released on a summons.
On January 27, detectives were conducting a drug investigation and pulled over a car on Cedar Bridge Avenue in the area of Mantoloking Road.
Police arrested the driver, Melissa Medvitz, 25, from Toms River, and charged her with possession of Oxycodone and Xanax, distribution of Xanax and Oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The passenger, Myron Robinson, 26, from Eatontown was arrested and charged with conspiracy to possesses a controlled dangerous Substance (CDS), two counts of conspiracy to distribute CDS and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both were processed and released on a summons.
On February 9, detectives were conducting surveillance in the area of Drum Point Road when they saw a car swerve into the opposite direction of travel twice, resulting in multiple cars swerving out of their lane onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.
Other motor vehicle violations were observed, such as the driver going 20 to 30 mph over the speed limit, using their left blinker to turn right and turning right at a red light without stopping at the intersection.
Detectives pulled the car over and discovered that the driver was under the influence of narcotics or prescription medication. As a result, Dawn Simon, 54, from Brick was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop or yield and improper signal.
On February 11, detectives observed suspicious activity in the area of 35 Beaverson Boulevard (Lions Head Office Park) resulting in them pulling over two cars related to the activity.
Vincent Infante, 30, from Seaside Heights, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and wandering in a public place to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. Infante was processed and released on a summons.
Horace Bland, 31, from Toms River, and Darion Showers were in another car. Bland was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Showers was charged with conspiracy to possess heroin with the intent to distribute, conspiracy to possess heroin, wandering in a public place to obtain a controlled dangerous substance and driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Bland and Showers were both processed and lodged in Ocean County Jail.
