
BRICK – Two Barnegat residents were charged for possessing drugs after police found cocaine, Xanax and more in their car on New Year’s Eve.
Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit of the Brick Township Police Department performed a motor vehicle stop around 12 p.m. after noticing an aggressive driver cut off several drivers on Beaverson Blvd.
After pulling over the car near the intersection of Shorrock Street and Route 70 at the Lakewood/Brick border, police discovered crack cocaine, methadone and paraphernalia on the passenger, 25-year-old Joseph Catanzaro of Barnegat.
Police said Catanzaro provided false information to detectives and was charged on a warrant with possession of crack, methadone, paraphernalia and hindering apprehension. He was lodged in Ocean County Jail.
The driver, 19-year-old Adrianna Buttacavoli of Barnegat was found to possess Xanax pills and paraphernalia. She was charged with possession of Xanax, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and careless driving. She was released on a summons.
