MANCHESTER – Patrol Officers Anthony Iliadis and Arthur Cronk from the Manchester Township Police Department were recently recognized as the August 2021 Officers of the Month by the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum (NLEMM).
They were chosen as Officers of the Month after they worked together to safely and successfully disarm a woman wielding a knife.
At the scene, Iliadis engaged the woman in conversation and asked her repeatedly to drop the knife. While talking, Cronk approached her from behind and successfully grabbed the knife from her hand without any injuries.
According to police, the woman was in the process of walking to confront a nearby family member when she stabbed the hood of a random motorist’s car.
As a result, the 74-year-old woman was charged with possession of a weapon, as well as possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and criminal mischief. She was then sent to a local medical center for an evaluation.
