POINT PLEASANT – Two Ocean County residents killed in a trailer crash in Illinois were identified as recent graduates of Point Pleasant Borough High School.
Marsada Connors, 20, and Cole Young, 19, died in a three-car crash on August 20 on Interstate 70 outside Mulberry Grove, Illinois.
According to Illinois State Police, Young was driving near the interstate’s milepost 55 in Fayette County when they were hit by a truck tractor semi-trailer after it crossed the median into oncoming traffic.
The 55-year-old driver of the trailer, Bill Lard, of Los Angeles, was seriously injured and was airlifted to an area hospital. He was charged with improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, Illinois State Police said.
The trailer also hit another car. That driver and passenger both refused medical attention.
