TOMS RIVER – A free, pop-up clothing swap is taking place in Silverton on Friday, June 25 in celebration of Pride Month.
To participate in the Pride Clothing Swap, participants are encouraged but not required to donate clothing they no longer wear and leave with clothing that is new to them. The more clothing that people bring, the more variety of sizes and styles of clothing will be available to other attendees.
All members of the community are welcome to participate in the swap at no cost.
“Recently, I was thinking about Pride and realized that a clothing swap would be a perfect event to invite those who are interested in exploring gender-affirming clothing in a safe space without needing to spend money to do so,” Cassie Provinzano, the 21-year-old event organizer of Toms River, said.
Provinzano is an education major at Kean University. She has “always been interested in fashion and events that bring people together without involving money.” Provinzano promotes the swap as a chance for some to experiment with their style in an environmentally sustainable way.
For some, the opportunity to swap clothes may be an ideal way to spend the last weekend of Pride Month.
The swap will take place on Friday, June 25 and begins at 7 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. It will be held at 34 Sea Breeze Road at the Silver Bay Harbor Association in Silverton, Toms River. It is advised that participants bring their own bags.
