RED BANK – A resident of Little Silver was tested as a “presumptive positive” case of COVID-19, causing the school to close.

According to a release from the Red Bank Regional School District, the resident has a sibling attending Red Bank Regional School. Officials were working to identify “close contacts” of the student.

Red Bank Regional was closed on March 10 and March 11 as a precaution. During this time, the faculty developed an emergency virtual school plan. On March 12, students began using virtual classrooms, learning on their devices at home.

Students will be learning from home until further notice. All extra-curricular activities and sports are suspended for now.

Custodial staff have cleaned and disinfected the entire building, officials said.

After meeting with medical professionals from the Monmouth County Regional Health Commission and Riverview Medical Center, the district was told that “there is no recommendation to close any of the PK-8 sending school districts at this time.”
