METUCHEN – A young driver was charged with hitting a utility worker with his truck and then leaving the scene of the crash. The victim is in critical condition.
Paddy Flynn, 18, of Toms River was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the second degree, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury in the third degree, and various motor vehicle summonses, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. These charges are just accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On the morning of March 2, Flynn was driving a white Ford F-250 near the intersection of Middlesex Avenue and Grove Avenue. It was here that he allegedly struck a 51-year-old utility worker from Whippany who was in the crosswalk. Flynn then left the scene. The victim is reportedly in critical condition.
Police in Middlesex County put out a message to the public looking for assistance in finding the driver. Someone who witnessed the crash called in and gave information that lead to the arrest.
