STAFFORD – A smokey brush fire emerged in the area, but it was not a part of the controlled burn that the NJ Forest Fire Service has been doing.
The Stafford Township Police, Stafford Township Fire Department, and Stafford Township Emergency Medical Services all responded to a call of a bush fire breaking out around Stafford Park Boulevard and Cook Road.
Once at the scene, smoke was detected coming from the open field. The Stafford Township Fire Department immediately extinguished the fire with the help of the Barnegat Township Fire Department and New Jersey State Forest Fire Service.
It was confirmed that this fire was not a part of the controlled burns that have been taking place in the area by the Garden State Parkway.
According to police, the cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
