BRICK – Police were tipped off about a package being sent to a home in Brick which led to multiple charges for illegal devices and counterfeit money.
Police said that they were given information that a package was being shipped to a home in Brick that contained a silencer. Local police from the Street Crimes Unit and Homeland Security Investigations agents searched the home at the Conway Towers Housing Complex located at 165 Chambers Bridge Rd. They found multiple silencers and “a large amount of counterfeit U.S. currency.”
Lawrence Turbett, 71, was charged with four counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device (the silencers) and was transported to the Ocean County Jail. The U.S. Secret Service was notified in regard to the counterfeit monies.
Chief James Riccio commended the officers for their work in removing the silencers from the streets, calling them “dangerous devices which serve no legitimate purpose.”
