HOWELL – Police were contacted that a resident was viewing child pornography online and later found thousands of images on his electronics.
William Whesper, 54, of Tyrpak Road in Howell was charged with one count of second degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Pornography.
Police were directed to Whesper from a CyberTip. CyberTip is the country’s centralized reporting system for crimes like this, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“An initial review of Whesper’s electronics revealed that he possessed thousands of images of child pornography,” said a report released by Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. The arrest was a joint investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Howell Township Police Department.
If convicted of the second degree offense, Whesper faces up to 10 years New Jersey State Prison, will be subject to Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
