
TOMS RIVER – A driver lost control of his vehicle, police said, and the vehicle ran over a curb before hitting a fire hydrant and street sign before coming to rest at the base of a utility pole.
The incident happened just after midnight on Jan. 23 at the intersection of Fischer Boulevard and Matso Drive. The vehicle was heading south on Fischer Boulevard in the right lane and struck the curb just south of Matso Drive.
The driver, Richard Wisniewski, 55 of Toms River, was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
He was checked by Toms River EMS but refused further medical attention. The crash is being investigated by Toms River Police Officer Dan Burke.
