POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Bye, bye Snooki. The petite reality show celebrity known for her antics on several seasons of Jersey Shore when it was shot in Seaside Heights and a short lived spin-off featuring her and one of her former co-stars, has left the building.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi announced she was leaving a revival of the show that made her a career. The announcement comes after an incident months ago involving a video in Point Pleasant Beach where the show is now set. The video shows her yelling and storming off the set.
While her blow up appears linked to her decision to exit the series she indicated it may have been one of several reasons she reached her decision.
The show was finding difficulties in finding a location after several Jersey Shore area communities noted concerns and some ordinance restrictions to have Jersey Shore filmed in their towns.
Snooki was seen on video angrily leaving the borough’s beach house in August. Borough officials have reported that they were not aware that the show was being filmed there at the time.
Reports have Snooki stating, “stop talking to me. I’m leaving. Leave me the –alone.”
Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid and the borough’s police chief reportedly contacted the producers of The Jersey Shore to inform them of an ordinance restricting filming onpublic or private property without a permit.
Polizzi stated her reasons for returning to the show that made her famous and also led to her facing Ocean County Judge Damien Murray at one point for disorderly behavior years ago, was to come off “as a good person and lately, on the show, it’s just been drama.”
She added that she no longer wants the drama or leaving her children for days on end to take part in the reality show that has its members make fun of each other as part of its formula.
Producers tried to calm her down and the video appears to involve Angelina, another member of the Jersey Shore cast. She returned to film more segments as is Angelina but she won’t be back for season 4 of the show called “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.”
The show has also filmed in areas of Manalapan and it had considered Lavallette at one point.
