BRICK – Township Police have made additional arrests in an area which has proven a draw for criminal activity in recent weeks.
Detectives Ryan Talty and Bernardino Alvarado were conducting a selective enforcement detail at the Wawa located at 116 Brick Blvd. and observed Johnathan Tinik who was known to them from prior law enforcement encounters and who had an active warrant for $250 issued by Ocean Township municipal court, He was quickly placed into custody by the officers. Tinik was processed and later released.
Township detectives also witnessed another incident when a vehicle exited the store’s parking lot onto Brick Boulevard and noted some motor vehicle violations. They conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Members of the township’s K9 unit arrived and K9 Max sniffed the vehicle and detected a controlled dangerous substance within it.
Erica Azurak, the vehicle’s driver, was found to have multiple warrants totaling $2,058. She was arrested and processed. One of her passengers, Robert Johnson was also arrested on eight outstanding warrants totaling $146,432.09.
The vehicle’s third passenger, Rachel Mulligan was also arrested after various prescription drugs were discovered. She was issued three possession of a controlled dangerous substance charges for Xanax, Alprazolam, Clonazepam and possession of a prescription legend drug.
Township police also made an arrest for possession and intent to distribute a CDS on November 22 when Detective Talty was in the area of Briar Mills complex and observed suspicious activity involving the driver of the vehicle.
Talty and Detective Jeff Person conducted a motor vehicle stop on the suspect in the area of Herbertsville and Sally roads. Soon after, they were joined by members of the K9 unit. K9 Duke performed a K9 sniff of the vehicle leading to a positive indication of a CDS being inside it.
After a full search a plastic bag was found that contained a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and a jar containing a green vegetative matter suspected to be marijuana. These items along with $429 in cash were confiscated by the detectives.
Howell resident Michael Mylet was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued several motor vehicle summonses. Mylet was released after being served with a complaint summons.
