JACKSON – A 12-year old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle last night while riding his scooter.
According to Jackson Township Police, the boy was riding a scooter alongside two friends on bicycles when he entered the vehicle’s path on Farmingdale Road.
The boy was seriously injured in the collision and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the driver is from out of town and is cooperating with the investigation. A preliminary investigation infers that the driver was traveling below the speed limit.

The names of both parties are being withheld at this time.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Jackson Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit with assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and Sheriff’s Department.
The investigation is ongoing.
