JACKSON – A suspicious person investigation at Six Flags Great Adventure resulted in a the weapons arrest of an Allentown man on Aug. 29.
Jackson Police Captain Steven Laskiewicz reported that Sgt. Michael Kelly and Patrol Officer Andy Falzarano were working a security assignment at 11 a.m. at the amusement park when they were alerted by park security about a man who had come to the park seeking a job at the park’s employment center.
The officers responded to the location and were told the man, Jonathan Fruchter, 38, was acting irrationally and asking questions about the park’s security procedures. They were also told that Fruchter had been previously escorted out of the park due to his behavior and that he had returned and began to harass employees because he had not been hired.
The officers spoke to Fruchter and they discovered he had a handgun in his vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot. Kelly and Falzarano searched the vehicle they recovered a Glock 9mm handgun in a holster, three loaded 15 round magazines for the gun, several knives, a machete, a tactical tomahawk, several knives, handcuffs and a hat with the New York Police Department logo on it.
Fruchter was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of weapons, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, certain persons not to possess weapons, possession of magazines capable of holding in excess of 10 rounds and possession of handcuffs. He was transported to police headquarters and is currently being held pending transport to the Ocean County Jail as other charges are pending.
Members of the department’s Detective Bureau assisted with the investigation and Fruchter’s Allentown residence was searched by Allentown Police detectives and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. That search resulted in the seizure of an AR-15 rifle and several 30 round magazines for the rifle and a Sig Sauer 40 caliber handgun and ammunition.
