JACKSON – Two from Jackson were arrested and charged after a shoplifting incident lead to the discovery of more crimes committed by the pair, police report.
On August 19, Jackson Officers responded to the Quick Chek on Leesville Road after two suspects were spotted in the store who were believed to be the shoplifters of ice cream and other items at the Quick Chek from the night before.
The officers confirmed the identities of the shoplifters and also found several containers of ice cream and cigarettes that had not been paid for in their possession.
The pair was placed under arrest.
Lawrence Mann, 34, of Jackson was charged with shoplifting, receiving stolen property, possession of anabolic steroids, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shiabon Poff, 40, of Jackson was charged with shoplifting, burglary, theft, possession of hypodermic syringes, possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the investigation, police also noticed that Poff had a purse that matched the description of one that was reported stolen in a recent burglary to a motor vehicle.
Jackson detectives conducted searches of the seized vehicle and also a residence in town, recovering proceeds from motor vehicle burglaries reported on Crescent Avenue on August 18, Freehold Road on August 17 and Brentwood Drive on August 1, along with anabolic steroids, narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Both were processed and transported to the Ocean County Jail.
