Manahawkin Family Injured In Vermont Car Accident

  MANAHAWKIN – Members of a local family sustained serious injuries in a car crash while they were traveling through Vermont, according to authorities.

  Vermont State Police reported that the Smith family of Manahawkin was traveling through West Haven, VT when the incident occurred.

  On July 14, 38-year old Greg Smith was driving on Vermont Route 22-A in West Haven, VT in a Toyota Sienna when his vehicle was struck by 20-year old Jenna Latterreur of Essex, VT driving a 2013 BMW. According to police, Latterreur veered out of her lane colliding with Smith partially head on.

  Smith sustained serious injuries and had to be extracted from his vehicle. His passenger, 41-year old Holly Smith, was hospitalized for serious injuries.

  Also in the vehicle were 9-year old Garron, 6-year old Reid and 11-year old Abby. The kids were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

  Latterreur was transported to Medical Center in New York for non-life threatening injuries. She was also issued a citation to appear in court after being charged with Gross Negligent Operation and Reckless Endangerment.

  Vermont State Police do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the incident and report that the Smith family is in stable condition.
