OCEAN COUNTY – The convicted sex offender who failed to register under Megan’s Law has been found and arrested by police. He now faces a raft of additional charges.
The New Jersey State Police said 37-year-old Marvin Sanders of Shrewsbury was supposed to register but didn’t and earlier this week, authorities put out the call for tips on his whereabouts through social media channels.
According to police, those Facebook and Twitter posts helped officers locate Sanders. Detectives from the State Police Fugitive Unit, Troop “C” Criminal Investigation Office, and the U.S. Marshal’s NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force located Sanders at a home in Barnegat.
Police said while taking Sanders into custody, he resisted arrest and assaulted a State Police detective. Detectives and Task Force then placed him under arrest.
Sanders has been additionally charged with aggravated assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest. He was transported to Ocean County Jail where he awaits a bail detention hearing.
