LAKEWOOD – While searching for a man wanted for stalking, a Lakewood Police Officer fired his weapon, injuring a pit bull, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.
Police are searching for a male wanted by Manchester Police for violating a restraining order and stalking at a sober living facility near All Saints Episcopal Church in Lakewood. While on the hunt for this individual, a Lakewood officer encountered “an aggressive pit bull” that charged him.
The officer discharged his weapon and wounded the dog, which was then transported to a local veterinary hospital. The dog is expected to make a full recovery. The officer was not harmed during this incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
