TOMS RIVER – Officials report that the Petco on Hooper Ave. remains structurally sound after a Toms River woman drove into the side of the building this afternoon.
Ocean County Scanner News was first to report the incident.
On April 24, police responded to the Petco, located at 1335 Hooper Ave., for a vehicle that collided with the building. Linda Bevando, 72, was attempting to park her vehicle when the car jolted forward, crossed the curb and sidewalk, smashing into the exterior wall of the Petco.
According to John Gerrity, Assistant Construction Official for Toms River Township, the building is still structurally safe. Bevando’s car only broke one window and caused dome damage to the outside of the building below the window.
No injuries were reported.
