BEACHWOOD – A GoFundMe has been created to help the victims of the Jan. 18 fire that partially destroyed a family’s Beachwood home.
The site was created by Jackie Fox who hopes to raise $10,000 to help Kevin and Jamie Fox, the newly-weds and homeowners, get back on their feet after the tragic incident.
The page states: “Kevin and Jamie Fox are newly-weds and they lived in this home for 1 year and a half with their 3 beloved cats. On January 18th, 2019 a terrible fire accident occurred in the home. Sadly the cats passed away during the fire. The inside of the house is completely ruined and they lost absolutely everything they had. We are glad that Kevin and Jamie are alive and well. Any sort of donation would very much be appreciated.”
Since the GoFundMe was created on Jan. 19, $5,430 of the total goal has been raised in just one weekend.
The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Fox’s Windward Avenue home in Beachwood. Multiple agencies responded including Beachwood and Pine Beach Fire Departments, Stations 16, 38, 18, Squads 15 and 20, and FAST team.
According to the Beachwood Volunteer Fire Department, the kitchen fire spread through the home and into the attic. The blaze was under control after approximately 15 minutes.
Although the couple was unharmed during the incident, their pets passed away during the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and Beachwood Police Department.
