BEACHWOOD – The Garden State Parkway was closed down for a period of time early Thursday morning, Jan. 10, due to an overturned van on the southbound side near mile marker 79.5.
State Trooper Charles Marchan of New Jersey State Police confirmed that the accident occurred at 7:38 a.m. on the section of parkway running through Beachwood. A Ford Econoline van was overturned.
The driver was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further treatment, said Marchan.
Police, fire, and EMS responded to the scene.
The parkway has since been reopened on both northbound and southbound sides.
