Two Children In Critical Condition After Keyport Crash

FREEHOLD – Police are investigating a vehicle crash that landed three individuals in the hospital, two in critical condition, Tuesday afternoon in Keyport.

  According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni, 59-year old Debbie Triano of Keyport, and her two grandchildren, the youngest in a stroller, were struck by the vehicle while walking on Main Street.

  Kathy L. Ascolese, 22, also of Keyport was driving northbound in a 2008 black Acura TL when she collided with the threesome, sending the stroller’s seat into the air, landing some distance from the impact site.

  All involved in the crash were transported to the hospital for treatment, including a passenger inside the vehicle. The two children remain in critical condition in the hospital with Triano, who has been reported stable.

  Ascolese also remains hospitalized for observation.

  The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Keyport Police Department, and Monmouth County Serious Crash Analysis Response Team (SCART) are investigating the incident.
