TOMS RIVER – Don’t miss the Toms River Animal Facility’s free rabies clinic, coming up on Jan. 19. The clinic will be open 10 a.m. to noon at 235 Oak Ave.

Residents must bring written proof of a prior rabies vaccination shot to ensure that the new shot will be good for three years. No adjustments will be made to rabies shot certificates after the clinic.

It’s also time to renew dog licenses. State law requires that licenses be renewed each year for dogs over seven months old. To purchase a dog license, owners must have a current rabies shot certificate for each dog with an expiration date after Nov. 1, 2019.

  The fee:

  • $15 for a spayed/neutered dog (Must show proof the animal is spayed or neutered)
  • $20 for dogs not spayed or neutered.

Beginning in February, a $5 late fee will be added to the cost of the license. In March, this will increase to $10 additional late fee. Late fees cannot be waived.

All pet licenses can be renewed in person at the Toms River Health Department, 33 Washington St., or by mail.
