Structure Fire In Stafford, Cause Undetermined

STAFFORD – Stafford Police and EMS responded to a structure fire on Oct. 17 at Universal Supply Company on East Bay Ave. Police reported no injuries.

Stafford Police posted the following advisory to social media yesterday: “Active structure fire at Universal Supply at 1015 East Bay Avenue near Mud City. Please avoid the area. More information to follow. Thank you.”

Ocean County Fire Marshal Bob Cook stated that 12 fire companies responded to the scene and the fire was under control in about 35 minutes.

“Overall it took about 3 hours to extinguish,” said Cook.

EMS crews 389, 385, 387 and Special Operations Unit 384 responded to the scene and set up a fire rehab.

“Miraculously, no one on scene required any medical attention and everyone was safe and accounted for. A large amount of apparatus and personnel were on location and we cannot thank them enough for how they handled this quickly and efficiently,” stated Stafford EMS.

Cook stated the cause of the fire is undetermined, but the investigation continues.
