HOWELL – The fire that consumed the Newbury School playground back on July 8 has yielded inconclusive results, officials said.
Investigations by the Fire Bureau and the insurance company both produced no definitive causes for the fire.
According to Ronald Sanasac, Assistant Superintendent for Business Administration and Board Secretary of Howell Schools, the insurance company found no definitive contributions to the fire.
Sanasac noted that the district referred to the insurance company prior to replacing the rubber mulch, to determine that it was not a factor, which research confirmed.
The estimated cost to replace the damaged equipment is $60,000.
