MANCHESTER – A 48-year-old Whiting man was airlifted to a local hospital after sustaining major head injuries due to a truck running over his head.
On July 4 at 6:30 p.m., Manchester Township Police responded to Elizabeth and Chilvers avenues to investigate a reported motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they saw a dump truck with an attached trailer on back, holding a disabled vehicle. There was also a pick-up truck. The man, Robert Braden Jr., was found on the front lawn of an Elizabeth Avenue home with serious head injuries.
Braden had been using a 1996 Ford F350 to push the disabled vehicle onto the trailer. He put his vehicle in park partially up the ramp and then attempted to secure to the disabled vehicle to the trailer. However, the pick-up rolled backwards while he was standing behind it and threw him to the ground, its rear tire rolling over his head.
He was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and is currently listed in stable condition.
