LAKEHURST – A motorcyclist who eluded police Friday night was found Saturday and arrested on multiple charges by Lakehurst Police.
Kyle J. Kolbasowski, 29, of Toms River, was charged with eluding a police officer in a motor vehicle. He was also issued 10 motor vehicle summonses for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal, improper display of plates, unclear plates, creating the risk of an accident and handle bar height on a motorcycle. He was issued a warrant for the charges and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he was lodged pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
At 11:54 p.m. June 9, Lakehurst Police saw two vehicles – a Harley Davidson motorcycle and silver Cadillac Escalade – driving recklessly at high speeds on Route 70 west. Officer Madelyn Waltz pulled over the Escalade without incident.
Officers Robert Schroeck and Zachary Schulte attempted to pull over the motorcycle, whose driver at first pulled off to the shoulder and appeared to be complying. However, police say Kolbasowski then wove in and out of traffic to elude them. Police terminated the pursuit but got a positive identity on the motorcyclist.
Lakehurst Police contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, who issued a warrant for Kolbasowski’s arrest. Toms River Police went to his residence on June 10 and arrested him without incident.
