TOMS RIVER – Local star Todd Frazier will be moving closer to his hometown as a New York Yankee.
Frazier, 31, who was playing for the Chicago White Sox, was acquired by the team this week, according to a press release from the Yankees. He was part of an exchange that carried teammates David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle to New York, and Chicago received Tyler Clippard, Ian Clarkin, Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo.
Frazier was part of the internationally famous Toms River team that won the 1998 Little League Series.
The Toms River South graduate was the No. 34 overall pick in the 2007 draft, heading to the Cincinatti Reds. He was traded to the White Sox in 2015.
“It has been fun in Chicago, but I’m also excited to see what’s in store for me in New York,” Frazier said in an interview on ESPN.com.
